In celebration of Women's History Month, March 1, 2021 to March 31, 2021, please click on this Blog post to learn some of the history of a woman who survived years of upheaval but she never gave up. This woman is my Mom.
She is one of many who survived the death of her parents at a young age, living in an orphanage, WW2, living in a refugee camp with her son, and finally receiving immigration status to come to Canada in an attempt to make a better life for herself and her children.
Personally, I would give my Mom a reward for her hard work and bravery for all the skills she learned to survive the many obstacles of her life.

If you're looking for a book that doesn't describe the raw graphic details of abuse and violence then "Anastasia and The Ghostly Owl" is the book for you!

Metaphors can make writing more personal, more memorable, and more persuasive. ~ Henneke.
Using metaphors is a good way to help reader's imagination. "Anastasia and The Ghostly Owl" is riddled with metaphors to inspire them to "think-outside-the-box" and "read-between-the-lines" because that is the way this story is written! ~Anita E. Wladichuk
...Anastasia does provide a vehicle for helping others to see certain elements in themselves–the power of self-identification, the power of outside symbols, the power of seeking help from others...to navigate the tricky turns of life.
~ FrKurt Messick, one of Amazon's Top 50 Reviewers
"Thank you for the copy of your book. I found I could relate to it on so many levels. You are very good with words and I believe your book has the potential to help many, many people. It probably already has! Thanks, again, very much!"
~ Gail, Customer, BC 2018
. . . Anastasia's story does not read like your typical fiction, as it features layers of metaphors that infuse the writing with significant depth and meaning. The meat of the story is definitely between the lines. It is sometimes difficult to ferret out the details of Anastasia's story, but the important thing here are her feelings, and they shine through. . .
~ Daniel Jolley, one of Amazon's Top 50 Reviewers
"Thank you for all you do. The future is good for many because of the way you look at things. Your book is an icebreaker amongst many victims towards understanding and self-awareness regarding the inner suffering from abuse. At any age, it is an excellent, valuable learning tool. Your book provides self-help through your inner peace regarding the abuses you suffered."
~Danny Scheltgen, Customer

Please click on this post to the Blog postings and awesome review (located in Comment Section in Part 12 ) - "Family Is Everything, Siblings Belong Together"- Part 12 - Game of Chess
Click on this Blog post to the metaphor where Anastasia creates an imaginative mental chess game to protect herself as the pawn, her will power to be happy. She also draws upon the help from her stronger chess pieces. She uses her imagination to escape the reality of her surroundings allowing her to continue to pursue with her studies and reach her personal goals in life.
Review: ". . . She seeks to escape her despondency through being in nature, through working her job diligently, through pursuing a college degree, through pursuing sports, and through creating a mental chess game with herself . . ."
