“Anastasia and The Ghostly Owl (The Choice Was Hers!)" was a book in the making from the time I was 15 years old.  At that time, I went to bookstores and read the back cover of several books written on topics such as abuse.  I didn’t want to write using the same threatening words such as rape, sexual assault, abuse, violence that I found myself reading.

I didn’t want to read these types of books, nor did I want to write the same type of book.  In addition to feeling threatened by these words, a sense of diminishing another individual’s misfortune was prevalent.  I wanted to present my experiences in a gentle, non-threatening, and non-minimizing way while presenting the theme of “hope” at the same time.

I did just that by writing my story metaphorically throughout.  For example, the book title, Anastasia, the Owl, the use of Disney characters, nature, self-actualized people, survival games, etc.

  • This is a very insightful book that is illustrated in such a way to make it easy to relate to and gives hope to anyone that is going through or has gone through abuse or difficult life situations. It gently guides one through the steps of how to go forward after such a hurtful time as Anastasia chooses the positive route to go forward in a constructive way after suffering abuse and difficulties. A story that anyone can relate to and gives hope to all that better days are ahead. I strongly recommend this insightful book for anyone to read whether they’ve suffered abuse or not. It is a positive book that gives hope to all. Sincerely, Lynn C.
